About Me
About Me & My Therapeutic Style
I am a relationship oriented therapist and my goal is to help promote healthier relationships—both to yourself and others. I look at the various systems and people you have been involved with throughout your life, and explore how those systems may be impacting you. These systems may be your family of origin, your workplace, school, friends, partners as well as various systems of oppression. I take a warm, collaborative and directive approach utilizing humor, psychoeducation and at times honest feedback. I am direct but flexible, and you get to decide how sessions look. I myself am a verbal processor and like to provide the opportunity for clients to have that space for themselves. I show up as my most authentic self and ask that you do the same. I am not wildly structured, so for those looking for more manualized and procedural sessions, I may not be a good fit.
I grew up in the Greater Seattle Area and have always and probably will always call this place my home. I am biracial and 4th generation Japanese-American. Outside of therapy I love to play volleyball, ski, attempt to not kill my plants, read and snuggle with my two cats Miso and Ganon. I am currently telehealth only.
Experience & Who I Work With
I received my Bachelors of Science in psychology from Santa Clara University and my Masters degree in Couples and Family Therapy from University of Oregon. I have been practicing as a therapist since 2015. I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Prior to graduate school I was a counselor in a residential eating disorder program. I have also worked as a counselor in a Traumatic Brain Injury clinic for those experiencing post-concussive syndrome.
I work best with adults 21 and older. I especially enjoy working with emerging adults as they navigate life cycle transitions (graduating college/first breakup/serious relationship/navigating friendships), therapists in training, and people wanting to unlearn toxic narratives. I specialize in anxiety, depression, cultural issues, ADHD, attachment and trauma. Also as a person who identifies as biracial, I enjoy work around identity exploration and privilege and oppression.
Therapy is an inherently political space and therapists are not blank slates. I view my role as someone in a position of power to be able to advocate for and help empower those who may experience marginalization and oppression. All gender identities, sexualities, and cultural and racial identities are welcome.
